History
Globalization is an essentially economic concept. From the moment that capital circulates throughout the world through telecommunication networks and is managed by sophisticated computer programs, our world has become a unique system and increasingly complex. Globalization has generated growth and wealth in many parts of the world, but also growing inequality and a feeling of chaos.
The fiasco
We have created a very unpredictable and capricious complexity. We don't understand the dynamics of a system that has removed the concepts of time and space, essential to sustaining the traditional view for the global economy to function.
What did we learn?
We have always created tools to help us do things that, in reality, we already knew how to do. Now, however, we are doing new and unpredictable things, swept away by systems that lack conscience. If our intelligence is able to manage well the complexity that we have created, we should seriously think about progressing in the field of artificial intelligence.
